Redskins QB Robert Griffin III going through cutting, change-of-direction drills

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III @RGIII continues to make progress in his comeback from right knee surgery, and he advanced to a very important stage this week. A source has told the Washington Post's Mike Jones that Griffin began running and cutting on his repaired knee for three consecutive days this week and didn't appear to suffer any setbacks. According to the source, the drills featured Griffin sprinting to his left and right, then cutting in the opposite direction. Griffin has been allowed to do on-field running for a while and started "explosive sprinting" a couple of weeks ago, but this was the first time he had been allowed to make cuts and perform other change-of-direction drills.
Griffin will spend the next five weeks continuing to strengthen his knee and do more drills. During that time period, he has two scheduled check-ups with Dr. James Andrews, who performed Griffin's knee surgery in January. The hope is that if everything with his knee checks out OK, Griffin will be cleared to practice and take some reps when Redskins training camp opens July 25.

Fantasy Analysis:

More good news on the RG3 front. I think it's too soon to move him into the top 10 among fantasy QBs, especially when we don't know how he will look going full speed in exhibition games. But with how his rehab has come along, that rise in the rankings seems like a matter of when, not if.
