Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas earns some first-team reps

Miami Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas has played sparringly with the starters during camp. The Miami Herald also recently reported that Thomas is locked in as the No. 2 back behind Lamar Miller @millertime_6. Rookie RB Mike Gillislee is the early favorite for the RB3 spot. Thomas has 256 career carries with a 3.5 yards per carry average. The third year back has missed seven games in his young career. Thomas is not consider a serious threat to challenge Miller for a starting position, but Gillislee is in the mix to overtake Thomas.

Fantasy Analysis:

If Thomas were able to stay healthy and play at or near 100-percent, his job security wouldn't be in question. Gillislee still has a ways to go as a rookie, but by the end of the season, anything can happen. Thomas has been decidedly average through two seasons and has never had a run over 28 yards. Miller's big-play speed really separates him and coming out of the draft, many experts thought Miller was every bit as good as Giants RB David Wilson @4stillRunning who is widely considered a breakout candidate. The same can be said for Miller and he's going about a round after Wilson.
