Broncos make it official, waive RB Willis McGahee

In one of the least surprising yet still notable post-draft cuts, the Denver Broncos have waived veteran running back Willis McGahee, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. McGahee, who turns 32 during the upcoming season, saw his 2012 campaign cut short after suffering a torn MCL and a compression fracture in his right tibia - and his role minimized when Denver drafted runner Montee Ball in the second round of the 2013 draft. McGahee skipping all of the Broncos' OTA's this spring made this ultimate scenario even more obvious.

Fantasy Analysis:

While on the surface this move sounds notable, it's been a long time coming for a crowded backfield that still has Knowshon Moreno as an experienced option plus Ball and rising second-year option Ronnie Hillman. McGahee signed a four-year deal in 2011 and had $2.5 million coming his way for the 2013 season. Now comes the interesting part: who wants a two-time Pro Bowler with tread left on his tires. As for the Broncos, Ball is already becoming a preseason crush for many fantasy footballers with a spot in top-20 rankings. This release will only spur on the momentum.
