Giants WR Hakeem Nicks shows up for minicamp, won't hold out of training camp

Still no Victor Cruz at Giants headquarters on Tuesday, but the big-name wide receiver who was actually required to be in attendance for the start of mandatory minicamp lest he be fined is present. Hakeem Nicks is with his team today, something that was verified by punter Steve Weatherford's TwitPic. Nicks, who has one year remaining on his rookie contract, told the media that he doesn't see any reason why he would stage a holdout at the start training camp, which begins in late July. Nicks was absent for all of the Giants' voluntary workouts and practices, ostensibly because he wants a new deal.

Fantasy Analysis:

This must make Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning happy, but does it mean anything for Nicks in terms of fantasy? No. All this really does is soothe the fear that Nicks was going to stay away from Giants camp throughout the summer. As expected, that's not going to be the case.
Nicks is still working his way back from an offseason knee scope, but he should be 100 percent by training camp. Health is always an issue with him, and it's why I find it difficult to spend a early-round pick on a player who has yet to make it through a 16-game slate in four pro seasons. But whenever Nicks does make it through full season, he could very well be a top-10 WR. Currently, he is No. 17 on my personal WR rankings
