Cowboys QB Tony Romo not taking part in mandatory minicamp

But this isn't like a Victor Cruz-Hakeem Nicks situation. Tony Romo isn't taking part in Cowboys minicamp this week because he is still recovering after back surgery last month. Romo underwent surgery to remove a cyst from his back and is expected to need only a few weeks to fully recover. So, the team is holding him out for precautionary reasons, according to ESPN's Ed Werder. Romo should be fully healthy in plenty of time for training camp, which begins in about seven weeks.

Fantasy Analysis:

No big deal here; I just wanted to talk about Romo a little bit. He is probably the best reason as to why you must wait on quarterbacks during your draft. He throws for more than 4,000 yards and close to 30 touchdowns per season. He has some outstanding weapons in Dez Bryant, Miles Austin and Jason Witten. Yet, he is in the bottom half of the QB1 range. He doesn't run like Cam Newton or Russell Wilson. He doesn't tally 40+ scores like Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. But Romo is consistently productive and provides awesome value when he's the eighth or ninth quarterback off of the board.
