Report: Chargers sign free agent DE Dwight Freeney to 2-year deal

Needing to fortify their pass rush following OLB Melvin Ingram @MelvinIngram's knee injury, the Chargers and free agent Dwight Freeney have reportedly agreed to a two-year contract. No longer an elite sack master, the 33-year-old still had five in 2012 for the Colts. Freeney spent the 11 seasons of his career in Indianapolis and had at least 10 in seven of those campaigns, the last time in 2010.

Fantasy Analysis:

Arguably the Chargers could have taken a pass rusher high in the draft, but the Bolts really need help when Ingram tore his ACL. Now the question is how does Freeney, who spent his clear play end in a 4-3 defense adjusts to San Diego's 3-4 defense. Ultimately, Freeney is no longer an IDP beast or even a middling option, but hopefully his presence can bolster the front-7 which also is integrating rookie Manti Te'o.
