Browns sign former Pats, Cards QB Brian Hoyer

Many expected the Browns would add another quarterback to join Brandon Weeden @bweeden3 and Jason Campbell. That addition came on Thursday as Cleveland reportedly inked former Cardinals and Patriots backup Brian Hoyer to a two-year contract. Hoyer made his only NFL start in Week 17 for the Cardinals last season, but Arizona waived the 27-year-old earlier this week.

Fantasy Analysis:

Like many an unknown backup, there was a point during his run in New England when intrigued as a potential future starter for some needy team. The Browns are certainly lacking a sure-fire QB1 and didn't draft one in part due to having few selections. Still, it would be surprising if Hoyer truly joined the competition between Weeden and Campbell, though not inconceivable. Outside of Jacksonville there is probably not a worse QB situation in the NFL.
