Jets 'in love' with rookie QB Geno Smith

Obviously the Jets liked Geno Smith @GenoSmith_12 enough to draft him, even if they passed on the WVU passer in the first round. Now that the team has been around the 22-year-old for a little bit, like is turning into love. From Brian Costello with the NY Post: "You can tell from talking to people around the team during this weekend's rookie mini-camp that many in the organization are smitten with new quarterback Geno Smith. It's beginning to look more and more like the starting job is his to lose."

Fantasy Analysis:

Well now. Smith winning the Jets starting QB job would not simply mean a depth chart change, but likely the release of Mark Sanchez @Mark_Sanchez. According to Costello, Smith had "great zip" on his passes, looked more and more "decisive" throughout the minicamp - and perhaps turned in his best work off the field as the organizer of team meetings and maturity with the media. Always take early season gushing with several grains of salt, but it's no stretch to imagine the Jets wanting Smith to win the starting job. Sounds like he's doing his part to make such a scenario take place.
