Packers stop RB Eddie Lacy's draft slide

Even though the Packers had a huge need at running back, many people didn't think Eddie Lacy would be in play for Green Bay in the first round, because they don't have a history of taking running backs early. But what if that same first-round player falls to the back of the second round? It was too perfect for the Packers to pass up. They drafted Alabama running back Eddie Lacy with the 61st overall pick Friday. Concerns about hamstring and foot injuries helped push his stock down.

Fantasy Analysis:

DuJuan Harris @Ol_sLy_Foxx became an intriguing player last year, but Lacy should be the Packers' No. 1 RB by the start of the season. I think it will still be a split in some way, but he'll play the lead. It's an outstanding value pick. Lacy can be a 20-carry player and has good quickness for a man of his size (5 foot 11, 231 pounds). He's easily better than Cedric Benson, Alex Green @AGreen_20 and James Starks @James44Starks. He needs to become a better receiver, especially in this offense, but this is a case of when dropping in the draft has its advantages. Lacy is surrounded by a great offense and should be a fantasy RB2 this year.
