Cardinals HC Bruce Arians: Drew Stanton is a 'very capable' starting quarterback
It's only March, but it seems like newly acquired Drew Stanton has the early lead in the quest to become the Cardinals' starting quarterback come Week 1.
When asked by NFL Network's Andrew Siciliano on Monday if he thinks the team's 2013 starting QB is on the current roster, Arians said, "Yeah, we've got a very capable one in Drew Stanton. ... Drew knows the offense, he's more than capable of doing it, and If he's our guy, I'm comfortable."
But of course the head coach is going to talk up the new quarterback and a player he coached last year. When you look at the roster, it's reasonable to think that Stanton will be atop the depth chart in six months, but Arians is not going to hand the job to Stanton; a competition will take place between him and/or Brian Hoyer , Ryan Lindley and John Skelton . Arizona is also likely to add a quarterback through the draft.
