WR Brandon Lloyd isn't on Patriots' 2013 projected depth chart

That's what a league source has told Tom Curran of CSN New England. Lloyd signed a three-year deal last offseason. There is a $3 million option on his contract for next season, but, according to Curran, the team might eschew picking that up and gain the $2.5 million in cap space by releasing Lloyd.
Curran writes that Lloyd's attitude seems to be the No. 1 reason why the Patriots would be OK with moving on. He describes Lloyd as an "enigmatic personality," and an unnamed teammate said Lloyd is "weiirrrdddd." That jibes with a Tuesday report from the Boston Globe that stated Lloyd displayed "erratic behavior in the locker room and on the practice field."

Fantasy Analysis:

Although Lloyd was seen in fantasy circles as a disappointment last year, his overall numbers -- 74 catches, 911 yards, four touchdowns -- weren't that bad. It's just we expected a lot more, and rightfully so, from a proven wide receiver playing with Tom Brady and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. It was with McDaniels that Lloyd gained more than 1,400 yards in 2010.
Getting rid of Lloyd may enhance Wes Welker's chances of staying with the team.
Lloyd will turn 32 years old this summer and appears headed for his sixth different team since 2007. If he is cut, it will be very interesting to see what kind of market there is for an aging wideout who seems to be more trouble off the field than he is worth on it.
