As a rule of thumb, tearing your Achilles' tendon during your contract year isn't a very good thing for pro athletes. It doesn't really help your market value, you know? Tight end Fred Davis
couldn't avoid it when he tore that tendon in Week 7 last season. He is now a free agent and attempting to be ready by the start of the 2013 season. And a source has told the Washington Post that Davis is ahead of schedule in his recovery, but it's way too soon to tell if he will be healthy in time for the opening game.
Fantasy Analysis:
The Redskins have indicated that a decision won't be made on Davis' future with the team until they see how he is coming along later in the spring. Davis is still an attractive fantasy name because of his age (27) and athleticism, but he didn't produce much when he was on the field with Robert Griffin III (24 catches, 325 yards, no touchdowns in seven games), and the odds aren't good that he will be at full strength by Week 1. Tight end isn't a very deep position in terms of talent, something that Davis has. But I don't think he will be the player we know until at least mid-October.
