The Buffalo Bills need a quarterback, and they know it. General manager Buddy Nix said in November that he wants to find a franchise quarterback. In a move that accomplishes nothing toward that end, the team re-signed quarterback Tarvaris Jackson
on Friday to a one-year deal. Jackson spent most of the 2012 season as the Bills' third-string QB after being acquired via trade from Seattle. However, head coach Doug Marrone said Friday that he told Jackson and incumbent starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick they will be involved in an open competition for the job.
Fantasy Analysis:
I don't mind the fact that the Bills are making Fitzpatrick work for his huge contracct, but Tarvaris Jackson is as mediocre as they come at quarterback. The free-agent market isn't exactly brimming with talent at that postion, and it would be a pretty severe reach if Buffalo drafted a QB with the eighth overall pick in April's draft. The Bills need to find a franchise quarterback, but it's extremely unlikely that they will have one on their roster in 2013. Stevie Johnson will remain an unexciting WR3.
