Jaguars will implement zone-blocking run offense

Buried deep in a Wednesday article from Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union about what the Jaguars plan to do in the upcoming draft is this interesting tidbit: Offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch plans to install the zone-blocking scheme next season. It will be something new for running back Maurice Jones-Drew @Jones_Drew32, who has never played in a zone-blocking offense during his seven pro seasons.

Fantasy Analysis:

We pay more attention to such a development now after seeing how the change from a power run scheme to zone blocking affected Raiders running back Darren McFadden this past season. Specifically, how much the new scheme led to a drop in his production. The Jaguars don't currently have enough of the quicker, smaller lineman who are best for zone blocking, but Fisch said "bigger lineman can adjust to it," and he believes the team will adjust appropriately prior to next season. OK. We'll see.
Those who are already in the anti-MJD camp will use this change as just another reason not to draft him next season. But if that belief catches on, Jones-Drew will see his stock drop far enough in so many drafts that he will become a nice value pick. I would take him in a second if he falls into the high-RB2 range.

Why don't they just trade him! Idk why they would do this to him. They want a first round pick but the value just isn't there a 2nd round is more than enough for him.
