UPDATE: Vikings RB Adrian Peterson undergoes hernia surgery

The Vikings announced Thursday that running back Adrian Peterson @AdrianPeterson underwent hernia surgery earlier in the day. Peterson had dealt with the hernia issue since mid-December, but that injury, much like everything else that stood in front of Peterson in 2012, didn't slow him down en route to an historic season. Peterson rushed for 497 yards on 83 carries in the final three games of the regular season and ended up just eight yards shy of breaking the single-season rushing record.

Update: Peterson told ESPN's Josina Anderson that he actually suffered the sports hernia back in Week 10 and that "Each week, it just got worse and worse and worse." This man is just unreal.

Fantasy Analysis:

The team said there are no long-term concerns following this surgery. Considering what Peterson overcame last year, I'm not sure what injury would be of long-term concern to him. Hernia surgeries keep most players out 3-6 weeks. With that timetable, Peterson should reach 100 percent health by this time next Tuesday. All bad jokes aside, Peterson should be the No. 1 player on 2013 fantasy draft boards.

I don't know how to say this without being a "Debbie Downer", but does'nt anyone else think it's possible that Adrians "magical" healing powers could be related to something other than his positive attitude. Just saying...if it walks and talks and smell like "Deer Antler"...???

I'm sure you're not the first person to think that. I think most people have considering the current culture. But there hasn't been one piece of evidence made public tying Adrian to anything illegal. You can wonder all you want, because it is remarkable. But this is the reality. I think it would be irresponsible for anyone to think that drugs were were a factor here when there's nothing to that point.
