Bears WR Brandon Marshall needs another hip surgery

Michael C. Wright of ESPNChicago.com has been told by a league source that Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall @BMarshall needs arthroscopic hip surgery. No date has been set and which hip will be scoped wasn't specified, but the source referred to the operation as "nothing" and said it will keep Marshall out of action for "probably two weeks," which means he likely won't play in the Jan. 27 Pro Bowl. This will be Marshall's fourth hip surgery since March 2009.

Fantasy Analysis:

The amount of issues with Marshall's hip is disconcerting, but he was one of the best players in football this season and won't be slowed for OTAs following a short recovery period. Marshall caught more touchdowns (11) than the rest of his team (10). His 118 catches were almost triple the number that Chicago's second-leading receiver, running back Matt Forte, hauled in. And his 1,508 were more than 1,100 yards clear of the next closest Bears player. There is no doubt that Marshall is a high-end WR1 next season, but it seems impossible to think he will repeat 2012, which was his best year on record. At some point, much like Calvin Johnson, don't defenses just have to double- or triple-team him and take their chances with everyone else to see if someone other than Marshall can beat them?
