NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said he is hearing among his sources that the Arizona Cardinals are interested in Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy to fill their head coach position. Now that Denver is out of the playoffs after a double-overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Rapoport expects the Cards to make a "major push" for McCoy. The Broncos OC has interest from Chicago and Philadelphia as well. Arizona may promote defensive coordinator Ray Horton to head coach should their intended plans fall through.
Fantasy Analysis:
McCoy worked in multiple positions with Carolina from 2000 to 2008 before coming in as Denver's offensive coordinator in 2009. The Broncos ranked fourth in total offense (397.9 ypg) during the regular season, up from 23rd last season. Although let's not pretend to ignore the added presence of Peyton Manning and all he did for that offense this year. McCoy can now focus his attention on possibly interviewing around the league so his name should float between multiple teams in the immediate future.
