Redskins QB Robert Griffin III has knee surgery, surgeon says it went well

There will be many, many updates on Robert Griffin's health over the next eight months. Today, the update is Griffin's five-hour right knee surgery on Wednesday went off without a hitch, according to the performing surgeon, Dr. James Andrews.
"Robert Griffin III @RGIII had successful knee surgery early this morning," Andrews said. "He had a direct repair of his LCL and a re-do of his previous ACL reconstruction. We expect a full recovery, and it is everybody's hope and belief that, due to Robert's high motivation, he will be ready for the 2013 season."

Fantasy Analysis:

It's the operation that everyone expected following last night's news, and it's the response that we expected from Dr. Andrews. Even as I wrote Tuesday's note on Chris Mortensen's report about what RG3 was going to face today, I had a hard time believing the rumors that he was indeed expected back and at full strength by Week 1. But with the advances in medical science, the changes that have been made to the surgery itself to lessen an athlete's recovery time following an ACL reconstruction, and the case of Adrian Peterson, it's best to to just wait and see.
