Cowboys may need to restructure WR Miles Austin's contract

A report from DallasCowboys.com suggested that the team may need to renegotiate the four remaining years on wide receiver Miles Austin @MilesAustinIII's contract. The 28-year-old signed a seven-year deal back in 2010. He is scheduled to earn $6.732 million next year and releasing him before June 1 would potentially save $3.3 million against the cap. The report also details Austin's steady decline over the years but part of that should of course be attributed to the arrival of Dez Bryant @DezBryant.

Fantasy Analysis:

Austin's nagging injuries and inconsistent play are a far-cry from where he was just a couple seasons ago. He will turn 29 next summer and perhaps has hit the beginning of the wall. In 2009, Austin caught 81 passes for 1,320 yards and 11 TDs. He has missed six games over the last two seasons and spent most practice weeks with a questionable playing status. Dallas will need to tread carefully with their finances which may mean a player of Austin's caliber could have to move on elsewhere.
