Head coach Rex Ryan is sticking with the Jets, but the team did fire first-year offensive coordinator Tony Sparano on Tuesday. Quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh is also out. When the Jets look for a new OC, Ryan said that he wants someone who will bring an attacking, creative style and basically said that the "ground and pound" offense is gone. Ryan said he wants his offense to be more unpredictable.
Fantasy Analysis:
That's proper, because even Ryan wouldn't predict whom his starting QB will be next season. Ryan may want certain things, but the Jets don't currently have the personnel to deploy an attacking, explosive offense. Their running game, led by free agent Shonn Greene, is up in the air. Wide receiver Santonio Holmes
is the team's best offensive weapon, but he needs a quarterback to deliver the ball to do anything of note, and the Jets don't have a competent quarterback on their roster. Plus, Holmes is coming back from foot surgery. Ryan said during Tuesday's press conference that the Jets are "going to be the team you don't want to play." There are too many things to count that need to happen to make that possible.
