The Tampa Bay Times is reporting that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers do not have plans at this time to offer quarterback Josh Freeman 
a contract extension during the off-season. The 24-year-old signal caller is scheduled to earn $8.43 million in 2013 as a base salary. For some context, Tom Brady will be the tenth-highest paid quarterback next year, earning $9.75 million. About a week ago, head coach Greg Schiano told reporters that he plans on bringing in competition at the quarterback position next season.
Fantasy Analysis:
Good quarterbacks are better than bad quarterbacks, but there certainly are quarterbacks better than Freeman in the NFL. It isn't that unreasonable for Tampa Bay to want to get better at every position, even if Freeman currently is a promising young player. He only completed 54.8-percent of his passes and averaged about an interception per game. Considering his base salary, he was actually the eighth-highest paid QB in 2012, earning $6.585 million. That seems a bit high in my opinion.
