The San Diego Chargers are currently pursuing Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, former Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith and Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien. The NFL Network is reporting that the Chargers' decision-makers will fly cross-country for interviews. O'Brien is also receiving attention from Cleveland, Philadelphia and Arizona. Buffalo plans to interview Smith. These things will need to move quickly as draft evaluation kicks into high gear very soon.
Fantasy Analysis:
San Diego does have some good pieces in place. Danario Alexander
stepped up for a big 2012 season. Corey Liuget
had a promising rookie season. Ryan Mathews
could improve dramatically under a new system and Philip Rivers is still an above-average quarterback. What also makes this job appealing is the job security. One could argue that San Diego kept Norv Turner around a couple extra years, giving him plenty of time to right the ship. Don't underestimate that when someone eventually takes this position.
