Saints will see their season end Sunday, and running back Pierre Thomas
wasn't going to play anyway due to a knee injury, but he has been placed on injured reserve so the team can add an extra cornerback to the roster. Thomas played through the injury in Week 16 and put up one of his best stat lines of the season. But he was held out of practice all of this week and was ruled out Friday. The Saints enter the season finale against the Panthers with Darren Sproles
, Mark Ingram
and Chris Ivory sharing the snaps out of the backfield.
Fantasy Analysis:
Sproles is the most attractive fantasy start of three, but Ivory could very well see 8-10 carries versus Carolina's poor run defense. He looked good earlier this year when Sproles was on the shelf, and I think he is a possibility if you need a flex. Thomas is a decent running back, but the Saints will never give him a very large workload -- he topped 13 touches in a game just twice all season. Thomas will always be part of a committee in New Orleans, so he will be worth just a late-round flyer in drafts next year.
