Seahawks QB Matt Flynn unlikely to remain with team in 2013

ESPN's NFL insider John Clayton is reporting that Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Flynn will not be retained for the 2013 season. Flynn signed a three-year deal worth $19.5 million last season and is due $5.25 million next year and $6.25 million in 2014. That's serious money for a glorified backup. With rookie Russell Wilson @DangeRussWilson exceeding everyone's expectations, there figures to be a couple teams potentially interested in Flynn. If not, Seattle is likely to simply "cut him and move on," according to Clayton.

Fantasy Analysis:

Flynn would be lucky to garner anything more than a late-round draft pick, but why make that deal when the Seahawks is probably going to release him? Flynn is far from proven and has only flashed bits of potential while with the Packers. The 2013 quarterback class is considered to be thin and with teams not pressured to draft a QB early may make a deal for Flynn more appealing. The 27-year-old received a ton of attention after completing 70.5-percent of his passes, passing for 480 yards, six TDs and only one INT in Week 17 last season against the Lions.
