Chargers running back Ryan Mathews
was unable to practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to neck stiffness, but he did go through limited practice on Friday, opening the door for a chance that he will be active Sunday against the Broncos. Mathews has been feeling the neck pain since last week's loss to the Buccaneers, and head coach Norv Turner has hinted this week that Mathews' low number of practice reps might affect his usage during this weekend's contest.
Fantasy Analysis:
There doesn't seem to be a lot of concern about Mathews missing Week 11. What should be concerning are Turner's comments. He hasn't been shy in limiting Mathews' snaps at times this year with Jackie Battle handling the goal-line chances and Ronnie Brown being present on third downs. We have him ranked at No. 10 among running backs this week, but I, who does not have any input regarding the rankings, view Mathews as more of an RB2 against Denver's ferocious defense.
