A source told ESPN 980 that Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon
's chances of playing in Week 11 are "better than you think." Garcon would probably be best-served by having surgery, but that would mean he would be out for the remainder of the season. Instead, this injury has dragged on for weeks and weeks. The Redskins season isn't technically over yet, although they'd have to run the table to have a legit opportunity to make the playoffs.
Fantasy Analysis:
These sorts of decisions (to avoid surgery and play through pain) is what shortens careers. Garcon is a player that relies heavily on his speed and explosion and a serious foot injury obviously compromises his biggest asset. By avoiding surgery for as long as he has, he could just make the situation much worse in the long-term. It is admirable of him to attempt to tough it out, but it may also end up backfiring on him. Only one team in the NFC has a worse record than the Redskins, Carolina, and that team beat them already. Santana Moss
, Josh Morgan, and Leonard Hankerson
are earning close to an even split of the receiving production, although Moss does have five TDs.
