New England Patriots running back Brandon Bolden
has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. Bolden is currently still recovering from a knee injury and wasn't expected to play in Week 10. This suspension charts a clear path for RBs Shane Vereen
and Danny Woodhead
to maintain their offensive roles in the coming weeks. Bolden broke out in Week 4 when he rushed for 137 yards and a score. The timetable for the suspension (when it will begin) is not yet known.
Fantasy Analysis:
Bolden wasn't expected to return anytime soon and hadn't played since Week 6, back on Oct. 14. My impression is that he was probably using PEDs to heal more quickly although again, that's just my speculation. For those few fantasy owners who kept Bolden on their roster, it is safe to cut him loose now. Even if he comes back, he'd be splitting garbage time reps with Vereen and Woodhead since Stevan Ridley
has established himself as New England's featured back.
