The Kansas City Chiefs have shaken things up on the defensive side of the ball. Head coach Romeo Crennel has delegated his defensive coordinator responsbilities to linebackers coach Gary Gibbs. In addition, after playing only eight games, Kansas City waived cornerback Stanford Routt
to make room for free agent defensive lineman Shaun Smith. DL Glenn Dorsey
re-injured his calf Thursday and Smith provides some necessary depth.
Fantasy Analysis:
The Chiefs are bad. There's no other way to slice it. Routt was struggling this year, although cutting him seems a bit extreme. If not for a string of 21 unanswered points during their Week 3 win over the New Orleans Saints, KC would be the only team in the NFL without a win. In fact, the media has noted many times now that the Chiefs have not held the lead at any point during regulation in any of their games. Crennel reserves the right to salvage his job, but it's a temporary fix to an overwhelming problem. This change may only be the beginning.
