Saints running back Darren Sproles
has undergone surgery to repair a broken hand. He will not play Monday night against the Eagles and is out indefinitely. The injury was first made known when Sproles missed practice on Thursday. Since there wasn't much information about his hand at that time, not many people thought much of it. Unfortunately, Sproles' hand injury and that missed practice turned out to be a bigger deal than anyone imagined.
Fantasy Analysis:
Quite an unexpected gut shot to Sproles' owners. With Sproles out, Mark Ingram
should see a few more carries, but probably not enough to make him fantasy-worthy. He's just not a great NFL runner. The big gainer here is Pierre Thomas
, who should see more action out of the backfield as a runner and receiver. He is now a very good RB2 this week and going forward.
