Some pretty important news with indirect fantasy impact for the Buccaneers. The Bucs placed guard Carl Nicks on injured reserve Tuesday because of a toe injury. The Bucs gave Nicks a five-year, $47.5 million contract in March. He was a first-team All Pro in 2011 and has been one of the best run-blocking guards in the league. Now, Ted Larsen will try to fill the void at left guard.
Fantasy Analysis:
Over the past three weeks, running back Doug Martin
has averaged more than five yards per carry and gained at least 120 yards from scrimmage in each of those games. He was the top fantasy running back in Week 8 by far, racking up 214 yards and two scores. But this news pours a small bucket of cold water on all of that. Martin will definitely feel the impact of being without maybe the best run-blocking guard in the game for the rest of the year. He will take on the Raiders this Sunday.
