No official situation has been made, but three people familiar with the situaton told the Associated Press on Monday night that Michael Vick remains as the Eagles' starting quarterback. Vick admitted after Sunday's loss to the Falcons that head coach Andy Reid is considering giving Nick Foles a start, but it doesn't look like that will come in Week 9 against the Saints.
Yes, Vick has been pretty brutal this season. But he didn't turn the ball over against Atlanta, and it wasn't his fault that Falcons wideouts were running free for most of Sunday. What we know about Foles is that he was productive at the University of Arizona and opened eyes during the preseason against second- and third-stringers. I know Eagles fans want to see change because they don't like what they see now. But they will really not like the outcomes if Vick is benched. If that happens, you can safely assume that Reid is throwing in the towel on keeping his job.
