In a mailbag article hosted by ESPN's Adam Schefter, he explained that Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford
was dealing with a hip injury and not a hamstring injury as was originally reported. He went on to say, "I would be surprised if he practiced Wednesday or Thursday, but ultimately, when the game rolls around, he's a tough guy to count out." Stafford has played with minor injuries in the past so for him to sit Week 4 out, as Schefter says, "that tells you how bad the injury is."
Fantasy Analysis:
Fantasy owners will need to extend their patience throughout the week as Stafford rests his hip. Backup QB Shaun Hill has starting experience and would be a decent waiver wire addition to most fantasy teams in need of a fill-in quarterback should Stafford not play. Having WR Calvin Johnson
at your disposal will improve the fantasy prospects of any QB and Hill is no different. Detroit faces Minnesota and while the Vikings have fared relatively well against opposing quarterbacks, they've only gone up against Blaine Gabbert
, Andrew Luck, and Alex Smith. Not exactly the most formidable QBs the league has to offer.
