Cardinals running back Ryan Williams
has rushed for just 22 yards on 18 carries with two lost fumbles this season. He missed all of the 2011 season due to a torn patella tendon in his right knee If he's not running as hard as he could, there's good reason for that, and it has nothing to do with Williams' physical state. He admitted this week that he is thinking about his knee on most carries.
"It's hard to go out there and play like yourself at times after that injury," Williams said. "I haven't really been playing fast and instinctively like I want to, because as soon as some contact comes, something the first thing I think about is 'Is my leg going to be OK?' I'm not thinking, 'Play fast,' it's 'when I get hit, I need to lay myself down so my leg isn't caught up in some crazy mess.'"
Fantasy Analysis:
This type of story is pretty scary, because you know that when you play at half-speed or play not to get hurt, you raise your odds of injury. I don't want any part of the Cardinals' split running game this week against the Eagles or for the long term.
