Redskins RB Alfred Morris rushes for 107 yards, TD; Hightower debuts

With Roy Helu @royhelujr29 (Achilles) and Evan Royster (sore knee) out, Morris, the Redskins sixth-round pick, racked up 107 rushing yards and scored on a two-yard run. Tim Hightower @Tim_Hightower, on the mend from knee surgery last year, stepped in as the other main first-team option and finished with five carries for 28 yards plus one reception for one yard in his 2012 preseason debut. "He did a great job. I felt very good about his situation getting 13 or 14 reps in there," Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said about the veteran runner following the win over Indianapolis.

Fantasy Analysis:

As if this backfield could get anymore confusing. Morris is hardly an elite talent, but he runs hard and brings power with a hint of shiftyness. While we can't say the Florida Atlantic product is running away with the starting job, the reality is unless those sidelined suit up sooner than later, the rookie could very well take the field early in the opener against the Saints. As for Hightower, he broke outside for an 18-yard run and hardly looked rusty despite seeing his first live action since October. The question is how much of a workload can he handle ultimately.

Here's the thing with the Redskins runners: It's easy for everyone to simply say don't draft any of them because of Shanahan's rep for constantly shuffling the deck. The real reason you should avoid drafting any of them is because there simply isn't anyone worth drafting. Helu remains the best bet based on ellusive ways and rookie production, but his stock has dropped plenty - and continues trending down. Based on the potential Week 1 start, Morris might be worth a flyer. Interest in Hightower has risen simply because he's playing and others are not. Royster may have already been passed over so his sleeper tag is sketchy at best. We might no more ina few days, but don't count on it.
