Sunday morning inactives, week 17: Aaron Rodgers, Arian Foster, etc.

Happy new year, fantasy footballers! Hopefully you're able to shake the cobwebs from last night's celebrations to win yourself a championship. To help you, this post will let you know if players such as Roy Helu @royhelujr29, Chris Johnson @ChrisJohnson28 and LeSean McCoy @CutonDime25 will be available to you today. Plus, we'll see if certain teams with nothing to play for (read: Packers) risk playing their stars at all. Leave everything on the field today!

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers @AaronRodgers12 will NOT play today. He is inactive. Matt Flynn will get the start against the Lions. Interestingly, tight end Jermichael Finley, who is a little banged up, is active. However, I doubt he'll playing much at all. Again, get all Packers out of your lineup today unless you're a big Brandon Saine fan. And next year, play in leagues where week 17 isn't on your schedule so that you can avoid headaches such as these. I mean, it's your fantasy championship week and the MVP is a healthy scratch? That's skews everything.
Lions RB Kevin Smith is active despite an ankle injury. I would deploy him as a flex. He may be limited a bit, but he should be able to turn in some nice stats against Green Bay's second-string defense.
Eagles RB LeSean McCoy is OUT because of his ankle injury. So much for the team's desire to get him the rushing title. Ronnie Brown will start in his place. Dion Lewis will also get some carries against the Redskins.
Texans RB Arian Foster @ArianFoster is OUT today as is tight end Owen Daniels. The Texans are indeed resting some starters today. I like Ben Tate against the Titans as an RB2. Wide receiver Andre Johnson is active, as expected. We just don't know how much he'll play. I think he'll be targeted often when he's on the field, but it's really risky to have him in your lineup since he might be on the field for only 20 snaps or so.
Maurice Jones-Drew is active for the Jaguars. Expect him to really pad his outstanding stats today against the Colts.
Marion Barber is out for another week for the Bears, so Kahlil Bell is a strong RB2 today versus the Vikings.
Colts tight end Dallas Clark is active despite a neck injury that's kept him out of action for a couple of weeks. However, he's not a fantasy option right now. It's been a lost season for the former fantasy stud.
Titans RB Chris Johnson is active despite a sprained ankle. He should find some room to run against a Houston defense that is going to be reesting today. But really, he's let you down so many times this season, why roll with him in your fantasy championship in a so-so matchup? He's an unattractive flex option in my opinion.
Redskins RB Roy Helu is active. He was ruled out shortly before last week's game, but Mike Shanahan apparently likes what he sees from Helu today enough to let him play. However, considering we're dealing with Shanahan and an nicked-up runner, expect Helu to split carries today with Evan Royster.
Not an early game note, but Ben Roethlisberger will be active later this afternoon for the Steelers despite his high-ankle sprain. And according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, he will have "no restraints" against the Cleveland Browns and will play until the game is decided. So it doesn't sound like he'll be limited much. He's definitely a top-12 QB today.
Tom Brady's left shoulder is good enough to where he'll play today against the Bills. He should be in your lineup, obviously. Wes Welker and Deion Branch are active for the Pats as well. Welker is a must-start, and Branch is a sneaky-good play today in a really nice matchup.
As expected, Sam Bradford ends this season inactive for another game because of his ankle injury. Kellen Clemens will get another start for the Rams. That helps no one.
Calvin Johnson is active for the Lions. The Lions are playing to win today in Green Bay and with the Packers sitting a lot of starters, Megatron should be a monster today
Vikings QB Christian Ponder is active despite suffering a concussion last week. You can do better than having him in your lineup against the Bears.

Players already ruled out for week 17 include: Reggie Bush, Lance Moore, Mark Ingram, James Starks and Darren McFadden

Fantasy Analysis:

Reggie Bush was ruled out during the week because of a knee injury, setting up rookie Daniel Thomas for a big workload against the New York Jets. He is a high-end flex play today.
Lance Moore and Mark Ingram are out, but a lot of Saints could be at least limited today against the Carolina Panthers. With Ingram inactive, Chris Ivory will keep seeing more playing time and be a flex option in deeper leagues.
James Starks was ruled out during the week, but he is just one of many noteable Packers not playing today. Avoid this team at all costs.
The never-ending tease that was Darren McFadden ends the regular season on the sidelines. His foot injury is still not fully healed even though he hasn't played since October. You know Michael Bush should be in your lineup. He has a very nice matchup against the Chargers, a team against which he racked up more than 200 yards from scrimmage earlier this season.
