Week 16: Sit 'Em
TE Antonio Gates, SD
Antonio Gates is another tight end who has caused his fantasy owners much grief this season. Gates has only scored double-digit fantasy points three times this season. He really hurt me in my twelve team non-PPR dynatasy league. Gates did score last week vs. Carolina, but only came up with four receptions for 31 yards and his touchdown was a late effort to avoid the shutout. Had it not been for the score, he would have had another extremely low week, especially in non-PPR formats. This week's match-up vs. New York is interesting as both teams are out of the playoff hunt. Malcom Floyd is now on the injured reserve and it might appear a good week to get Gates in your line-up, but I suggest you keep him benched. This week the New York defense will look to limit Gates and hope to come out with a win despite being eliminated from the playoffs. Look for 3-4 receptions for less than 40 yards and no score.
TE Jermaine Gresham, CIN
Jermaine Gresham has been up and down this season in terms of his production. It appears he is on some sort of down two up one rollercoaster ride. Gresham has the ablity to step up his game and perform better, especially since he has chemistry with Andy Dalton and sees more targets than just about anyone on his squad. Gresham has some value in PPR formats as he has been grabbing 4-5 passes per game of late, but this week he is up against a Pittsburgh defense that is ranked second against tight ends, allowing an average of 5.7 fantasy points per game. Look for Gresham to see his targets, but be held to 3-4 receptions for less than 40 yards.
