Week 9: Game Time Decisions - Injury Update
WR Jordy Nelson, GB
The 5th year WR from Kansas State remained in street clothes during week 8 after he was unable to get his hamstring right during pregame warm-ups. The Packers passing game struggled against the Jaguars, but escaped with a win with James Jones and Randall Cobb getting the start. Through 7 games, Nelson is averaging 76 YPG and has hauled in five touchdowns. He's fully expected to suit up for the week 9 matchup with an Arizona defense that has been stout against the pass ranking 4th in yardage allowed (193 YPG). Nelson remains a no brainer if he's in uniform, despite a potential showdown with CB Patrick Peterson (allowed 2 TDs to Michael Crabtree on Monday night).
TE Coby Fleener, IND
Andrew Luck's Stanford teammate suffered a shoulder injury during the week 8 win over the Titans and missed the majority of the 2nd half. Fellow rookie Dwayne Allen filled in and finished with 4 catches for 56 yards. Fleener's MRI revealed a partial dislocation of his left shoulder that will keep him sidelined for at least two weeks. He remains off the fantasy radar while averaging just 32 YPG through 7 games and has yet to find the end zone during his rookie season.
TE Aaron Hernandez, NE
The 3rd year TE from Florida re-aggravated an ankle injury in practice and didn't make the trip to London (not like the Pats missed him during the 45-7 win over St Louis). Hernandez was on many breakout lists heading into 2012, but those that reached for him in the early rounds were forced to resort to backup options since Hernandez suffered a severe ankle sprain in week 2. He returned in week 6 against Seattle, but posted just 84 yards receiving over weeks 6/7 and remains well behind the Gronk (has 7 TDs through 8 games). New England has a week 9 bye and Hernandez should return for the week 10 matchup with a Buffalo defense that has allowed just 1 TD to opposing TEs (Gronk had 104 yards and a TD against Buffalo in week 4 with Hernandez sidelined).
