Week 5: Game Time Decisions - Injury Update
WR Lance Moore, NO
The 7th year WR from Toledo missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday as he's battling a hamstring injury that has him listed as questionable for the Sunday contest against San Diego. On the season, Moore has 19 catches for 287 yards and two TDs. With Robert Meachem now in San Diego, Moore has been targeted much more this season (15 times in week 4 loss to Green Bay). If Moore is ruled out, Devery Henderson could see an increase in targets.
WR Hakeem Nicks, NYG
Nicks' troublesome foot injury forced him to miss the past two weeks and head coach Tom Coughlin has reported that their best WR isn't showing much healing progress, leaving his week 5 status in serious doubt. Ramses Barden's had a breakout week 3 (9 catches for 138 yards), but suffered a concussion in the loss to Philly opening the door for Domenik Hixon to produce the 2nd 100 yard game of his career. Nicks missed Wednesday's practice and Hixon appears likely to start against a depleted Cleveland secondary, making him a solid WR3 for week 5. Cleveland's pass defense ranks 28th in yardage allowed (286 YPG) and they have yielded nine passing touchdowns through four games.
UPDATE: On Thursday Nicks was ruled out for week 5 and will miss his 3rd straight game, Domenik Hixon will get the start and could provide top 30 WR numbers against a shaky Cleveland secondary that will be without suspended CB Joe Haden.
