2013 Fantasy Football Studs

Stud: A NFL player who has proved himself to be a top scoring player at his position. These players should be started each week regardless of match-up and should only be benched during bye weeks and significant injuries. From our Fantasy Football Dictionary

Our writers have classified the following players as studs for 2013. We will be updating this list throughout the pre-season.

Name Pos Team Age Yrs
Exp.

Jamaal Charles RB KC 27 5 RB - #2
Update (8-16): That's it this preseason for Charles. According to a report, the Chiefs will hold their starting RB out of Kansas City's remaining preseason games after he suffered a mild foot sprain in the opener. As long as he's good for the real season opener, then resting now is arguably a... Read More
Matt Forte RB CHI 28 5 RB - #10
Forte had some down games last season just after the middle stretch, but finished strong. He is a stellar runner and his pass catching ability makes him quite worthy in your draft, especially in PPR formats. The one downside to Forte is his low yield for TDs. I would like to see him pick up the pace in this respect.

Arian Foster RB HOU 27 4 RB - #9
Update (10/20): Foster has a hamstring injury which caused him to miss most of the Texans' week 7 game against Kansas City. When healthy Foster is a must start, but his inability to stay on the field is costing fantasy owners. If you're an Arian Foster owner you have to keep an eye on his injury status each week. This seems to be ... Read More
Marshawn Lynch RB SEA 27 6 RB - #11
An elite talent who has been dominant the last two years, Lynch should be a no-brainer pick in the first round of fantasy drafts. The only possible wrinkle is the looming spectre of league discipline stemming from DUI charges last year. No trial date has yet been set and Lynch has filed a motion to have his case dismissed. Under the league's substance abus... Read More
Doug Martin RB TB 25 1 RB - #3
UPDATE (10/22): Doug Martin is out indefinitely with a torn labrum and some reports suggest he could be out for the season. For now, Martin will not be placed on injured reserve and fantasy owners will have to stash him on their bench in hopes he might return for a run in the fantasy postseason.

Martin is the toast of fantasy football now. At a position tha... Read More

LeSean McCoy RB PHI 25 4 RB - #5
McCoy is a top-8 RB fixture, but typically toward the back of that illustrious pack. It appears that 2013 is shaping up the same, though his dynamic pass catching ability gives him more value in PPR leagues. "Shady" is indeed a dual threat and one playing behind an unsettled QB situation and now in an offense with a heavy-run component. It will surprise n... Read More
Adrian Peterson RB MIN 29 6 RB - #1
What can Purple Jesus do for an encore after he miraculously came back from ACL/MCL surgeries and fell just 9 yards short of Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record (AD finished with 2,097 yards on 31 fewer carries than Dickerson)? His seven games of 150+ yards tied Earl Campbell. He seemed to get stronger as the season wore on totaling 1,598 yards over the ... Read More
Ray Rice RB BAL 27 5 RB - #7
It would be fair to classify the all-purpose back's 2012 as ho-hum by his own high standards. It would be more than fair to imagine Rice's 2013 season being anything but, especially in points per reception leagues. He went over 1,100 rush yards and caught at least 61 passes for the fourth straight season, though his totals in both categories represented lows in tha... Read More
C.J. Spiller RB BUF 26 3 RB - #4
Now entering his fourth season (and likely in his physical prime at age 25), C.J. Spiller will look to build upon his breakout 2012 season. He had 207 carries for 1,244 yards (6.0 ypc) and found the endzone six times. Add another 43 receptions for 459 yards and two scores and Spiller contributes in multiple ways as the biggest playmaker in Buffalo. Using his blazin... Read More
