| 51 | 5.03 | CBSSports.com |
Doug Martin | RB | TB | 24 | R |
| Glad I went with Thomas with my last pick looking at the run on receivers. This pick is a toss-up for me between Martin, Bush and Turner. I'll go with the upside of Martin and hope he lives up to the hype. | |||||||
| 52 | 5.04 | FFToday.com |
Antonio Gates | TE | SD | 32 | 9 |
| From a pure numbers standpoint, Antonio Gates is not the ideal value pick here. He is amongst a pretty crowded group of similarly projected TE like Jason Witten, Aaron Hernandez, Jermichael Finley amongst others. However, no player at any position was really standing out for us at this point, the most significant being WR Antonio Brown. I'm expecting a big bounce back year from this former stud. He's another year away from his foot problems that slowed him the last two seasons, and the departure of Vincent Jackson and Mike Tolbert should persuade Philip Rivers to look to his primary security blanket even more than he otherwise would. I'll be happier letting Brown go to someone else and settling for a lower ranked WR, than I would be letting Gates pass me by. | |||||||
| 53 | 5.05 | DraftCalc.com |
C.J. Spiller | RB | BUF | 25 | 2 |
| We have high hopes for Spiller in 2012. He is a very sneaky low-end RB2 heading into 2012. | |||||||
| 54 | 5.06 | FantasySharks.com |
Michael Turner | RB | --- | 31 | 8 |
| It's hard for me to pass up Michael Turner here. Yes this is a PPR draft so Turner should rightly slide down the draft board and Turner isn't getting any younger but he doesn't have a lot of NFL mileage on him having started his career late. He has been looking great so far, running well, cutting well, and there's no way defenses can let Roddy White, Julio Jones and Harry Douglas run wild which means less coverage to stop Turner as opposing defenses can't stack the box. | |||||||
| 55 | 5.07 | FFToolbox.com (Ben) |
Roy Helu | RB | WAS | 24 | 1 |
| Frank Gore is an obvious option and Reggie Bush's value rises in PPR, but both of those runners play in crowded backfields. Helu, not so much (yeah, let's just say I'm not a believer in Tim Hightower or ready to buy an Evan Royster jersey). After racking up points as a rookie starter last year, I expect more the same out of Helu. | |||||||
| 56 | 5.08 | TheHuddle.com |
Reggie Bush | RB | DET | 28 | 6 |
| There aren't a whole lot of playmakers on the football side of South Beach, so Bush should get plenty of work. He was the last of the RBs I was hoping would still be on the board when my turn came back around. | |||||||
| 57 | 5.09 | KFFL.com |
Frank Gore | RB | SF | 30 | 7 |
| I was really hoping Roy Helu would make it back to me, so now I'm stuck deciding between a lot of less-than-appealing options. Part of me feels like I am making a mistake drafting Gore, yet I come back to how he was given a large contract just a few short years ago. Brandon Jacobs isn't much of a factor in my eyes, and LaMichael James is so close to what Kendall Hunter is that I can't help but feel like Gore will have one final year of substantial carries. | |||||||
| 58 | 5.10 | DraftSharks.com |
Antonio Brown | WR | PIT | 24 | 2 |
| Big stuff lies ahead for this guy under an offensive coordinator (Todd Haley) who has proved adept at crafting the scheme to fit the talent available. | |||||||
| 59 | 5.11 | RotoWorld.com |
Brandon Lloyd | WR | --- | 31 | 9 |
| 60 | 5.12 | FFToolbox.com (Matt) |
Aaron Hernandez | TE | NE | 23 | 2 |
| Hernandez is hit-or-miss, such is the nature of playing behind Gronk. But when he hits, he hits big. Pairing him with a more reliable, steady option is the way to go. | |||||||
| 61 | 6.01 | FFToolbox.com (Matt) |
DeSean Jackson | WR | PHI | 26 | 4 |
| DeSean Jackson is, was and forever will be a knucklehead, but I'm not drafting a best friend. I'm not drafting a babysitter and I'm not drafting a ride home from the airport. I'm drafting a wide receiver who will score points in bunches. | |||||||
| 62 | 6.02 | RotoWorld.com |
Torrey Smith | WR | BAL | 24 | 1 |
| 63 | 6.03 | DraftSharks.com |
Eric Decker | WR | DEN | 26 | 2 |
| Hit me with two straight young breakout receivers. I think the presence of Demaryius Thomas makes it easy to overlook the impressive speed and athleticism of Decker. Plus there's the hands. Oh yeah, and Peyton Manning. | |||||||
| 64 | 6.04 | KFFL.com |
Willis McGahee | RB | DEN | 31 | 9 |
| I am passing up several other running backs that I would be happy with in favor of taking a chance on McGahee excelling because of the Peyton Manning factor. Double-digit touchdowns and at least 1,100 yards are in the cards if all goes well. If not, he should still be a serviceable third back. | |||||||
| 65 | 6.05 | TheHuddle.com |
Eli Manning | QB | NYG | 32 | 8 |
| Decker and McGahee going off the board immediately prior to this pick make it much easier for me to fill my QB need, as those were the selections I had queued up. Instead I'll make Eli the first Manning off the board for the first time... well, ever. | |||||||
| 66 | 6.06 | FFToolbox.com (Ben) |
Shonn Greene | RB | TEN | 27 | 3 |
| Replacement pick made by Commissioner | |||||||
| 67 | 6.07 | FantasySharks.com |
Beanie Wells | RB | --- | 24 | 3 |
| I'm a believer, I ain't no deceiver. He had his knee scoped this off season and while it technically was knee surgery it isn't a lot to be worried about heading into the season. Wells had a career year last season on a bum knee, expect his numbers to at least match what he was able to produce last year. Yes the Cardinals do have some competition in the depth chart but I still like Beanie's chances. | |||||||
| 68 | 6.08 | DraftCalc.com |
Jermichael Finley | TE | GB | 26 | 4 |
| We expect Finley to have that breakout season he was meant to have last year. He truly is as talented as Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski... And he has as good a QB as both. As long as he is healthy, everything is pointing to Finley exploding in 2012. | |||||||
| 69 | 6.09 | FFToday.com |
Reggie Wayne | WR | IND | 34 | 11 |
| Wayne makes a great late drafted WR3, the 30th WR off the board in this draft. He's got a rookie QB, but one that couldn't be more highly touted as a passer coming into the league. Targets should be plentiful for Wayne. Even with modest TD expectations, Wayne is going to make up a lot of points on receptions. Some extremely good WR options in the last half dozen off the board, such as Steve Johnson, Antonio Brown, Torrey Smith and Eric Decker. | |||||||
| 70 | 6.10 | CBSSports.com |
BenJarvus Green-Ellis | RB | CIN | 27 | 4 |
| He's not a sexy pick, but he's a serviceable No. 3 RB even in this format. | |||||||
| 71 | 6.11 | 2MugsFF.com |
Fred Davis | TE | WAS | 27 | 4 |
| He'll likely end up the number one option for RG3, and you have to love his upside. | |||||||
| 72 | 6.12 | FansFantasyFootball.com |
Vernon Davis | TE | SF | 29 | 6 |
| Number 1 target in what is hopefully a more dynamic 2012 offense | |||||||
| 73 | 7.01 | FansFantasyFootball.com |
Jonathan Stewart | RB | CAR | 26 | 4 |
| A nice RB4 for my squad a shame he is still in a shared backfield. | |||||||
| 74 | 7.02 | 2MugsFF.com |
Robert Meachem | WR | SD | 28 | 5 |
| As a #3 WR? Damn skippy. If he stays healthy, he's in the right offense to succeed, and live up to his potential. | |||||||
| 75 | 7.03 | CBSSports.com |
Philip Rivers | QB | SD | 31 | 8 |
| Waiting on a QB pays off as Rivers should bounce back from a down year with his high interception rate. The addition of Meachem is solid, and hopefully Gates stays healthy. | |||||||
| 76 | 7.04 | FFToday.com |
Peyton Manning | QB | DEN | 37 | 14 |
| Manning was the 10th QB off the board. I'll take a shot on him at that point. Matt Ryan was still on the board, the only available QB projected higher by FF Today than Peyton, but I'm luke warm on Ryan talent wise. He's got a pair of great receivers, but a new offense and his prior two seasons of improved fantasy stats came on a ton of pass attempts, which I'm not sure is sustainable with their new OC. Peyton has health issues - maybe. We won't truly know until he hits the field again and we see him play. The Broncos have the faith though, and I'll show the same faith in this once in a generation talent. | |||||||
| 77 | 7.05 | DraftCalc.com |
Denarius Moore | WR | OAK | 24 | 1 |
| Moore has top 10-15 WR upside. He is no lock to produce, which is why he is a sleeper... but as a WR3, he is low risk/high reward! | |||||||
| 78 | 7.06 | FantasySharks.com |
Matt Ryan | QB | ATL | 28 | 4 |
| This is one of those "in this format" selections. With Tom Brady rostered it may raise a few eyebrows that I pick Matt Ryan here but this isn't my first 20 round best ball draft and I've decided that I like me some quarterbacks in 2012. I really like Matt Ryan this year. His weapons are vast and he has spent the off season getting stronger and quicker. His coaches say he is throwing the ball harder and farther than he ever has. He has improved every year, cracking the top 10 at the position last year and has all the opportunity to improve once again in 2012. Witten was a consideration here as well but Ryan for me is one of those special players that stands head and shoulders above the rest at this spot. | |||||||
| 79 | 7.07 | FFToolbox.com (Ben) |
James Starks | RB | GB | 27 | 2 |
| Last year I had zippy interest in Starks, especially when his ADP was on the rise. Considering the high-scoring Pack brought in scant help/competition this offseason, he almost has to fall into half-dozen strong fantasy games at least. If he's actually playa, could be a lot more. | |||||||
| 80 | 7.08 | TheHuddle.com |
Isaac Redman | RB | PIT | 28 | 3 |
| As an RB3 I don't necessarily need Redman to hold off Rashard Mendenhall all year... but that possibility certainly adds upside to this pick. | |||||||
| 81 | 7.09 | KFFL.com |
Matt Schaub | QB | HOU | 31 | 8 |
| In two full seasons with the Texans, Schaub passed for at least 4,300 yards and 24 touchdowns. At this stage of the draft, I'll accept similar numbers after building the core of my team to this point. | |||||||
| 82 | 7.10 | DraftSharks.com |
Ben Roethlisberger | QB | PIT | 31 | 8 |
| I think Roethlisberger has 30+ TD upside with Todd Haley around. There's a lot of passing-game talent on hand in Pittsburgh, which should drive the offense. | |||||||
| 83 | 7.11 | RotoWorld.com |
Jahvid Best | RB | DET | 24 | 2 |
| 84 | 7.12 | FFToolbox.com (Matt) |
Sidney Rice | WR | SEA | 26 | 5 |
| Rice is a very high-risk/high-reward player. He can never seem to stay healthy and banking on that will probably be a mistake. But hey, maybe I get lucky. | |||||||
| 85 | 8.01 | FFToolbox.com (Matt) |
Titus Young | WR | --- | 23 | 1 |
| Young is far better than Nate Burleson and should improve upon his solid rookie campaign. This offense is due for at least 500 points so I just have to hope more targets are headed his way. | |||||||
| 86 | 8.02 | RotoWorld.com |
David Wilson | RB | NYG | 21 | R |
| 87 | 8.03 | DraftSharks.com |
Robert Griffin III | QB | WAS | 23 | R |
| It's frustrating to leave Witten on the board here, and I probably wouldn't if we could use TEs at flex. As it is, I'm looking at a bunch of guys I like similarly and no one I love. ... So I decided while typing this to grab the high-upside rookie and go after a killer best-ball QB combo. I expect Griffin to finish among the top-12 fantasy QBs. I don't expect a Newton redux. Just check what rushing numbers did for Mark Sanchez and Josh Freeman last year, and Vince Young in his rookie season. Throw in the league's most pass-heavy coach. At the least, there will be big games. | |||||||
| 88 | 8.04 | KFFL.com |
Jason Witten | TE | DAL | 31 | 9 |
| I was quite surprised to see Witten available at this point. PPR scoring makes him a steal, especially since the Cowboys don't have a bona fide No. 3 receiver to steal some looks. | |||||||
| 89 | 8.05 | TheHuddle.com |
DeAngelo Williams | RB | CAR | 30 | 6 |
| Just can't resist the siren song of such a talented back. The best ball format makes his inconsistent contributions easier to handle; this group's widely disparate opinions on wide receivers make it likely I can still find guys I like in the next few rounds. | |||||||
| 90 | 8.06 | FFToolbox.com (Ben) |
Pierre Garcon | WR | WAS | 26 | 4 |
| Was hoping Witten would hang on a bit longer, but also not sure why Garcon is still around. Yes, the Redskins receiving hierarchy remains a touch sketchy and I'm a tad concerned about Garcon transitioning from a WR2 to WR1. Still he figures to produce and have some nice games for this format. | |||||||
| 91 | 8.07 | FantasySharks.com |
Brandon Pettigrew | TE | DET | 28 | 3 |
| Pettigrew was a favorite target of Matt Staffords in 2011, setting career and franchise records at the position. I believe you can wait on TE this year and still get a serviceable choice later but once in a while a guy like Pettigrew floats up. If there were anything that I wanted as a must have player available here, I would go in that direction secure in the knowledge that I will still have choices at TE but in this case, the bone is picked clean for now at RB and WR so Pettigrew it is. | |||||||
| 92 | 8.08 | DraftCalc.com |
Mark Ingram | RB | NO | 23 | 1 |
| Ingram is no lock to produce in 2012, and he may not even get starter carries right away... but we like this kid and talent should shine through! By mid-season, Ingram could be a very decent fantasy RB2, or at least a great flex option. | |||||||
| 93 | 8.09 | FFToday.com |
Peyton Hillis | RB | --- | 27 | 4 |
| It took some convincing from FF Today Forums member stonewall to get me to draft Hillis, as he really wasn't on my radar, but I am now connecting the dots on the choice as a solid upside pick. Hillis moves to the Chiefs off clearly a bad year with the Browns. He has something to prove to redeem himself. The Chiefs Jamaal Charles is rehabbing from a serious knee injury, suffered early in the 2011 season, but regardless, Charles is not built for a ton of carries even at full health. Hillis has a nice opportunity to show his 2010 coming out party wasn't a flash in the pan performance. | |||||||
| 94 | 8.10 | CBSSports.com |
Stevan Ridley | RB | NE | 24 | 1 |
| Not the best running team by far, but Green-Ellis had at least 11 touchdowns each of the past two years. I like his upside. | |||||||
| 95 | 8.11 | 2MugsFF.com |
Shane Vereen | RB | NE | 24 | 1 |
| Glad Ridley went first, because I think the door is wide open for Vereen. This is the point where you look for RBs in a good situation to take over a majority of the starting snaps. | |||||||
| 96 | 8.12 | FansFantasyFootball.com |
Ben Tate | RB | HOU | 24 | 2 |
| Have to handcuff your first pick even in the best ball format...8th round is about right for a guy one play away from being a must start | |||||||
| 97 | 9.01 | FansFantasyFootball.com |
Michael Bush | RB | CHI | 28 | 5 |
| Forte holding out and could be dealt (unlikely) but the longer the holdout the better this pick. | |||||||
| 98 | 9.02 | 2MugsFF.com |
Alshon Jeffery | WR | CHI | 23 | R |
| I tend to think Jeffery will be the recipient of too much attention being paid to Brandon Marshall, in an otherwise lackluster WR corps. 70 catches? I think that's a low ball estimate. | |||||||
| 99 | 9.03 | CBSSports.com |
Jermaine Gresham | TE | CIN | 24 | 2 |
| Seems like a tight end on the verge of a breakout. | |||||||
| 100 | 9.04 | FFToday.com |
Darrius Heyward-Bey | WR | IND | 26 | 3 |
| While I want to draft a backup QB earlier than I perhaps normally would, I feel we can wait until the next pair of picks for that. A few half decent choices for our first backup WR, but DHB gets the nod because of his steady improvement from year 2 to year 3 of his NFL career, in hopes it continues this season. With Carson Palmer on board, there is less uncertainty about the Raiders young receivers developing than we are typically used to with this team. | |||||||
