Week 14: Box Score Bandit
The fantasy regular season ended with a bang in Week 13 as hotly contested
games produced big points for owners that were trying to get into the playoff
dance.
One of the biggest stories of the 2007 fantasy season continued to unfold as
undrafted running backs, such as Ernest Graham, Derrick Ward, and Justin Fargas,
produced strong numbers once again. It's numbers from unlikely players like
this that have defined the season for many playoff-bound owners, while those
left out in the cold have been already begun to look towards 2008.
Don't have time to scour the box scores? No need to worry, the Bandit
is here every week to break down all of the games for owners - fantasy style.
Check out the latest quick hits on the studs, bench plays, sleepers, and injuries
from the week that was.
50-Yard Line Entertainment...
Indianapolis Shows Jacksonville Who's Boss, 28-25
Fantasy Stud: QB-Peyton Manning (IND) bounced back this week
to toss 4 TDs while throwing for 288 yards.
Bench Play: RB-Joseph Addai (IND) appears to be wearing down
at the wrong time for his owners. He had a mundane 67 rushing yards.
Sleeper: TE-Marcedes Lewis (JAC) put up fantasy worthy numbers
in this one with 5 receptions, 49 yards, and 1 TD.
Cowboys Hammer Packers, 37-27
Fantasy Stud: QB-Tony Romo (DAL) kept the offense humming along
with a strong showing. He threw for 309 yards and 4 TDs.
Bench Play: QB-Brett Favre (GB) reverted back to his form of
the past couple of years. He tossed 2 INTs and had just 56 yards before being
knocked out of the game.
Sleeper: WR-Patrick Crayton (DAL) was back in the lineup and
should be picked up for playoff runs. He caught 3 balls for 42 yards and 2 TDs.
Injuries: Favre suffered an elbow injury when he took a big
hit.
Seattle Rains on Philadelphia's Parade, 28-24
Fantasy Stud: RB-Brian Westbrook (PHI) is a Top 3 Fantasy MVP
candidate. He again came up big with 139 total yards, 1 TD, and 7 receptions.
Bench Play: QB-AJ Feeley (PHI) crashed and burned after a stellar
performance last week. He had 220 yards with 1 TD and a whopping 4 INTs.
Sleeper: WR-Bobby Engram (SEA) remains a solid contributor
in this offense and could help playoff-bound owners. He had 5 catches, 60 yards,
and 1 TD.
Bucs Damage Saints Playoff Hopes, 27-23
Fantasy Stud: RB-Ernest Graham (TB) has been one of the biggest
surprises of the season. He continued to rack up numbers, totaling 143 yards,
scoring 1 TD, and catching 7 passes.
Bench Play: WR-Marques Colston (NO) was predictably contained
against the Bucs cover-2. All he managed was 2 catches for 39 yards.
Sleeper: QB-Luke McCown (TB) had a career day in this favorable
match-up. He threw for 313 yards with 2 TDs.
NY Giants Comeback to Beat Chicago, 21-16
Fantasy Stud: RB-Derrick Ward (NYG) is another in a long line
of backs that have come out of nowhere to produce this season. He gained 183
total yards, scored 1 TD, and caught 2 passes.
Bench Play: TE-Greg Olsen (CHI) is not a valid option at this
point. The rookie is simply not a go-to player in the offense as evidenced by
his 2 receptions for 7 yards.
Sleeper: RB-Adrian Peterson (CHI) carried the Bears offense.
He finished with 149 total yards and led all players with 7 receptions.
Injuries: Ward suffered ankle injury that took him out of the
game.
Cardinals Outlast Browns, 27-21
Fantasy Stud: WR-Braylon Edwards (CLE) is money. In a season
filled with elite wideouts, Edwards took his owners in the the playoffs with
7 receptions, 149 yards, and 1 TD.
Bench Play: WR-Anquan Boldin (ARI) has been playing hurt and
it's destroyed his owners chances. Despite being the main target in the offense
this week, he finished with just 2 catches for 25 yards.
Sleeper: WR-Bryant Johnson (ARI) shined with the team's top
two receivers injured. He grabbed 6 catches, 56 yards, and 1 TD.
Injuries: Boldin left the game after dislocating a toe on his
left foot.
