Week 7: Box Score Bandit

In what was a showdown between the league's conference leaders, fantasy owners reaped huge points from New England's lethal offense. Don't look now, but Tom Brady is on pace to break Peyton Manning's 49-TD season as he tossed a franchise-record five touchdowns.

Brady's record-setting numbers were a far cry from the rest of the league though, as two more quarterbacks got knocked out of games (Vince Young, Kurt Warner). The result is making owners rely on production from guys like Brian Griese and 43-year old Vinny Testaverde, both of whom actually have fantasy value.

Don't have time to scour the box scores? No need to worry, the Bandit is here every week to break down all of the games for owners - fantasy style. Check out the latest quick hits on the studs, bench plays, sleepers, and injuries from the week that was.

50-Yard Line Entertainment...

Patriots Pump Cowboys, 48-27
Fantasy Stud: QB-Tom Brady (NE) is on a major roll. He was unstoppable, throwing for 388 yards and a career-high 5 TDs to push his season total to a mind-numbing 21.
Bench Play: RB-Marion Barber (DAL) needs to be the starter to perform at the level owners need from him. He had just 59 total yards and was shutout of the end zone again.
Sleeper: WR-Wes Welker (NE) enjoyed a huge game running free in the Dallas secondary. He grabbed 11 balls for 124 yards and 2 TDs.
Injuries: TE-Benjamin Watson (NE) suffered an ankle injury. RB-Sammy Morris (NE) injured his shoulder/chest.

Vikings Beat Bears on Last Second Kick, 34-31
Fantasy Stud: RB-Adrian Peterson (MIN) is running away with Fantasy Rookie of the Year honors. He scampered for 224 yards and scored 3 TDs to carry the Vikes to a big divisional road win.
Bench Play: The Chicago D/ST has turned into a shell of its former shelf. On top of being run over, the unit had just 1 sack, failed to get a pickoff, and allowed 34 PA in a telling home loss.
Sleeper: QB-Brian Griese (CHI) is putting up #1 QB numbers. Without a running game, he threw for 381 yards and 3 TDs in a surprise shootout.

Green Bay Edges Washington, 17-14
Fantasy Stud: TE-Chris Cooley (WAS) is emerging as the team's best and most consistent receiving threat. He hauled in 9 passes for 105 yards and 1 TD.
Bench Play: QB-Brett Favre (GB) may be coming back to Earth. He was shutdown at home, failing to throw a TD with only 188 yards and 2 INTs.
Sleeper: TE-Donald Lee (GB) is putting up decent numbers for owners that need a TE. He finished with 3 receptions for 75 yards.

...Shocking End Zone Celebrations…

Kansas City Puts Underacheiving Cincinnati Away, 27-20
Fantasy Stud: WR-TJ Hoz (CIN) gave owners big numbers in this pass-heavy outing. He grabbed 8 passes for 145 yards and found the endzone twice.
Bench Play: RB-Rudi Johnson (CIN) returned to the field, but was non-existant with 4 rushes for 8 yards. He still has not scored a TD this season.
Sleeper: The Kansas City D/ST is turning out to be a solid play, especially at home. They collected 2 INTs, 1 FR, and 4 sacks while putting consistent pressure on the QB.

Bucs Stiff Arm Titans, 13-10
Fantasy Stud: WR-Joey Galloway (TB) has not shown any signs of slowing down. He again impressed, leading the team with 4 catches for 94 yards and 1 TD.
Bench Play: QB-Vince Young (TEN) was held in check. He threw for only 110 yards with 0 TDs and 1 INT, and rushed for 6 yards before leaving the game.
Sleeper: QB-Jeff Garcia (TB) isn't lighting it up, but he could provide valuable depth at the depleted QB position. He threw for 274 yards with 1 TD and still has not tossed an INT this season.
Bench Play: Young left the game with a strained quad.
