2009 MLB Team Preview: Toronto
2B Aaron HillHill suffered a season ending concussion in 2008. Before the injury, Hill displayed good range and mobility on the field. Offensively, he put the ball in play more often than not. He has a very fluid swinging motion.
SS Marco ScutaroHe offers little upside, even as starter. A lifetime utility infielder, Scutaro played every day for Toronto in 2008 and struggled. He has never hit more than .273 in a major-league season. His versatility remains his greatest asset as he qualifies at shortstop, second base and third base.
3B Scott RolenThe former All-Star slugger is worth look if healthy but that is very unlikely. Rolen had his left shoulder cleaned out before the 2008 season, but struggled with injury all season. At age 34, he doesn't have much potential to rebound. Don't count on more than 10-12 homers and around 400 at-bats in '09
C Rod BarajasThe 33 year old will need to improve production to hold onto job. His career .409 slugging percentage should result in 10-15 home runs if he gets every day at-bats in Toronto.
RF Alex Rios2007 was his breakout year for power. 2008 was his break out year for speed. Can he put it all together? Fantasy owners want to know.
CF Vernon WellsEvery year it's the same thing. Will be avoid the injury bug? Lets hope that even though he has got his money that he can put it all together once again
LF Adam LindHe should serve as the Blue Jays regular DH and should continue his progression this year. He is young and needs progression to his entire game.
LF Travis SniderSnider is one of the top prospects in all of baseball but maybe 1 to 2 years away from being a major league force. Stash away for 2011 breakout.
SP Roy HalladayFantasy baseball's best SP in 2008 will hopefully be just as effective in the tough A.L. East division.
SP Jesse LitschThis control artist was a quality number 5 starter for Toronto last year and provides solid WHIP and ERA totals as well.
SP David PurceyAnother of this year's crop of young deep sleepers, Purcey put up very good strikeout totals in the Triple A last season and could bring that to the majors as soon as this year.
RP BJ RyanRyan is still felling the effects of a Tommy John-type of surgery. He won't never approach his 2006 form, but could be effective. A 40 save season is still a possibility.
