1B Joey Votto [Ranked: #11]

A very promising rookie season catapulted him to this slot. Position is based more on promise than on concrete data. Nevertheless, with 9 homers in September, Votto served notice that he is for real.

2B Brandon Phillips [Ranked: #5]

Phillips is one of the game's best all around second basemen. Blessed with a great bat (average 17 homers with 77 RBIs and 24 steals the past three years) and good defensive range, Phillips, who is just entering his prime, could put huge numbers this season as he moves to elite status.

SS Jeff Keppinger [Ranked: #27]

Has contact hitting skills that suggest a .300 average in 2009 is possible. Had a great start in 2008, but tailed off after numerous injuries. His power and speed potential are limited but his average should be around .300 and the 29 year old utility man provides good position flexibility.

SS Jerry Hairston Jr. [Ranked: #30]

He could earn regular playing time while Alex Gonzalez recovers. The once top prospect in the Orioles organization became a viable Fantasy option in 2008 but his value was limited by numerous hamstring injuries. He provides position flexibility as an added bonus (shortstop and in the outfield). In 2008, he hit .326 with 15 stolen bases and six home runs in 261 at-bats, but will be a reserve in 2009 which will limit his fantasy appeal.

3B Edwin Encarnacion [Ranked: #16]

Its doubtful that he'll ever hit over .290 but the youngster finally showed his power in 2008 and should reach 25 homers this year again while hitting cleanup for a very underrated Reds lineup.

C Ramon Hernandez [Ranked: #18]

Could benefit from change of scenery with the Reds (great hitter's park). He hit .272 with 11 home runs over the final four months of 2008. Could be a bargain if he can stay healthy.

LF Jay Bruce [Ranked: #26]

Cincinnati's Wunderkind is higher up on other people's boards than my own. Likely will need at least another season to be a top tier fantasy OF

CF Willy Taveras [Ranked: #51]

The ultimate in one category production with a league leading 68 stolen bases last season. A good start to the season will keep him as the Reds leadoff hitter

SP Edinson Volquez [Ranked: #31]

Volquez finally harnessed his potential that a lot of scouts saw in the Texas minor league system. The Josh Hamilton deal has worked out great for both sides.

SP Aaron Harang [Ranked: #37]

Harang's stats took a turn for the worse as he dealt with a sore elbow and gave up 35 home runs last year. A strong finish last September proves that he is healthy again

SP Johnny Cueto [Ranked: #47]

Cueto was dominant at times last year but gave up a lot of home runs pitching in Great American ballpark. A possible Volquez like turnaround could be coming.

SP Bronson Arroyo [Ranked: #68]

Great American Ballpark sure doesn't help him keep balls in the yard but this former Red Sock proves that he can win in this bandbox.

SP Micah Owings [Ranked: #100]

Owings may prove to be a better hitter than pitcher in Great American Ballpark which may help his win total during this fantasy season.

RP Francisco Cordero [Ranked: #9]

Cordero had at least 34 saves in each of the past four seasons. Numbers aside, he is hamstrung by a mediocre middle relieve corps. He could move up this list.
