2009 Fantasy Baseball Rankings: OFWe are ranking over 450 players to help you prepare for the up coming season. Whether you are in a shallow 10-team mixed-league or play in an NL or AL-only 12 team league, the depth of these 5x5 rankings will certainly be helpful. Grady Sizemore, CLE, CFThe average was down last year but when a player has the ability to go 35/35, you have to take notice. Number one for a reason.
Ryan Braun, MIL, LFLast year's switch to Left Field brought even better numbers. The scary thing is that at age 25 he may not be done improving.
Carlos Quentin, CHW, LFEasily would have won the AL MVP award if not for a late season wrist injury. This guy has raked at all level and is for real
Alfonso Soriano, CHC, LFSoriano only played in 109 games last year and still hit 29 homers and stole 19 bases. A stud at the top of the order on a loaded Cubs team
Carlos Beltran, NYM, CFThe average may not stay that high. But playing in that packed Mets lineup will enable this perennial 25'25 player to continue being great
Josh Hamilton, TEX, CFThe feel good story of all last year, Hamilton had 80 RBI's in the 2nd half. Ranked this low for fear of his late season drop off happening again this year
Carlos Lee, HOU, LFNot a player with a lot of upside but a consistent 300 30 100 player is sure a nice thing to have year after year
Manny Ramirez, LAD, LFYou can expect a drop-off from last years insane numbers when he became a Dodger. Manny is a top 10 OF no matter where he goes.
B.J. Upton, TB, CFNot many people expected his power to drop off like it did (9 home runs in '08) but the 40 plus steals sure make up for it. IF the power comes back, look out.
Carl Crawford, TB, LFCrawford is coming off a down year riddled with injury but this perennial 20 homer 60 steal outfielder may come at his cheapest price this year
Jason Bay, BOS, LFComing up strong after a sub par 2007 season, Bay was a solid source of power for the Pirates and later the Red Sox as well. 290 30 100 is a lock this year
Ichiro Suzuki, SEA, RFIchiro had a down year by his standards last year but looks to rebound and is unmatched when it comes to batting average. The 40 steals per year are nice too
Nick Markakis, BAL, RFMarkakis is a player on the verge of jumping into fantasy stardom. Look for his power to take the next step to go along with his stellar .406 OBP
Vladimir Guerrero, LAA, RFNo longer a surefire top 5 fantasy outfielder, the man known as Vlad still has enough power and grit to be a solid number two fantasy OF
Matt Holliday, OAK, LFMany are worried about Holliday's jump from launching pad Coors field to McAfee stadium in Oakland. Those who don't will be rewarded greatly.
Matt Kemp, LAD, RFKemp's combination of speed and power will carry well into this season. If he can cut down on his high K rate he will be a star.
Nate McLouth, PIT, CFMcLouth posted very good power and speed numbers last year but look for a small step back with Bay and Nady's moves to the A.L. East
Shane Victorino, PHI, CFIs this the year that Victorino put it all together? IF his injuries are behind him and he can replicate his 2007 62 steal season, fantasy owners will be happy
Alex Rios, TOR, RF2007 was his breakout year for power. 2008 was his break out year for speed. Can he put it all together? Fantasy owners want to know.
Jacoby Ellsbury, BOS, CFBoston's speed merchant of death will surpass his 21st overall ranking if he hits leadoff. If he hits 9th then he won't. The ultimate risk/reward pick
Magglio Ordonez, DET, RFMany expected better after Magglio's 2007 season which saw him hit .363. Folks that was a career year and be happy to get such a productive number 3 OF.
Curtis Granderson, DET, CFWith great pitch selection and hitting atop a prolific Tigers lineup, this young Tiger could surely surpass his ranking if he turns on the jets and gets more steals
Adam Dunn, WAS, LFDunn brings his power show into the Nations capital. The homers should stay the same, he will need help from his supporting cast to keep up the RBI's.
Jermaine Dye, CHW, RFDye and U.S. Cellular field go together like peanut butter and Jelly. If you need a utility player with power, this is your guy right here.
Ryan Ludwick, STL, RFWas last year a fluke or wasn't it? That's the question all fantasy owners want to know. A potential steal right here for a potential .300 30 100 player
Jay Bruce, CIN, LFCincinnati's Wunderkind is higher up on other people's boards than my own. Likely will need at least another season to be a top tier fantasy OF
Bobby Abreu, LAA, RFThe on base machine that nobody wanted this year he was a steal at 5 million for the Angels. Another 20/20 season is not out of the question.
Vernon Wells, TOR, CFEvery year it's the same thing. Will be avoid the injury bug? Lets hope that even though he has got his money that he can put it all together once again
Alexei Ramirez, CHW, CFYou could do worse than to have a fantasy outfielder who also plays 2B and SS. Alexei broke out last year with over 20 homers and 10 bags.
Corey Hart, MIL, RFIf you need power and steals than Hart is your man. Just be warned that they come in bunches and that the batting average is not there yet.
